Overview

On a city street at night, a barefoot teenage girl with the legs of her sweatpants rolled up lights a cigarette and sticks it between her lips before connecting to the probation office's voice monitoring system. "Four, five, six, seven, four, five, six, seven…" She repeats the meaningless numbers requested by the system aloud. Her face is never shown, yet we can almost see her expression.

How It Feels

Read from this film's synopsis, keywords and credits, and used to work out what it sits beside.

A quietly devastating portrait of a young person caught in the machinery of the carceral system, told through fragmented observations that invite you to fill in what remains unseen. The film creates intimacy through absence, making you feel the weight of surveillance and powerlessness through what's deliberately withheld.
