Overview

Tommy Watanabe, a kind-hearted but naïve Japanese yakiniku chef in Taiwan, believes that good food can make the world better. When a cynical teenager tells him to “become president and fix society,” Tommy takes it literally and launches an unlikely grassroots campaign. As his sincerity attracts public attention, a conman exploits Tommy’s trust and steals campaign donations, forcing him to confront the harsh realities behind idealism and politics.

How It Feels

Read from this film's synopsis, keywords and credits, and used to work out what it sits beside.

A sincere dreamer's earnest collision with a cynical world, where faith in humanity gets tested by the very people he tries to inspire. It's funny and touching in equal measure, but carries the weight of disillusionment beneath its charm.
