Overview

novem is the ninth in a series of abstract poetic films made by the BIG TOP collective of Trace Nelson and Peter Sandmark. The film uses archival and found 16mm and 8mm footage along with original footage shot by the duo then hand painted and collaged in editing. The film has an original soundscape, using voices and various noise instruments, to add to the film’s sense of anxiety and disembodiment, as figures cartwheel through rock formations and cloud landscapes.

How It Feels

Read from this film's synopsis, keywords and credits, and used to work out what it sits beside.

A kaleidoscopic three-minute collage of found and painted footage where bodies move through dreamlike landscapes while an unsettling soundscape of voices and noise instruments pulls you deeper into disorientation. It's less narrative than pure sensation: meditative and strange in equal measure.
