Overview

A homely maid and a scarred ex-GI meet at the cottage where she works and where he was to spend his honeymoon prior to his accident. The two develop a bond and agree to marry, more out of loneliness than love. The romantic spirit of the cottage, however, overtakes them. They soon begin to look beautiful to each other, but no one else.

How It Feels

Read from this film's synopsis, keywords and credits, and used to work out what it sits beside.

A gentle, melancholic fable about two overlooked people finding beauty and worth in each other, blending wartime drama with dreamlike romance. The film moves between cynicism about their prospects and an almost magical belief that love can transform how we see ourselves and each other.
