Pim de la Parra (5 January 1940 – 6 September 2024) was a Surinamese-Dutch film director. De la Parra was born in Paramaribo and is partly of Portuguese-Jewish descent. He was educated at the Netherlands Film Academy. He became an editorial board member of the film magazine Skoop from 1963 which had been established by other students of the Academy.Between 1967 and 1976, he directed films under the independent production company Scorpio Films with Dutch film director Wim Verstappen, who managed all of its achievements. After a few short films, he began his career as an international director with Obsessions (1969), co-written by Martin Scorsese.
