Armando Salas, ASC, is a cinematographer. Born in Havana, Cuba, he immigrated to the United States during the Mariel boatlift. He grew up in Miami, where his passion for filmmaking took root. As a teenager, he began shooting skateboarding videos and experimenting with Super 8 films while attending the New World School of the Arts. Salas earned a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art, where he pioneered a focus on narrative film production within a fine arts setting and developed a distinct visual voice. He received an MFA from Florida State University’s College of Motion Picture Arts, where he was awarded the prestigious Jacob K.
