<I>The Long Walk</i> isn't one of Stephen King's best book-to-film adaptations. However, it's an entry worth watching. 50 young men voluntarily participate in a tradition where the last person standing sets to win a large sum of money. Along the way, though, guided by a set of strict rules, that last person standing (walking) - no pausing or going off course - is declared the winner. It's not an original concept, but, given recent times, sounds like something that would eventually come into play one of these days (like The Running Man, another film based on a King book).
David Jonsson, previously seen as "Andy" in <I>Alien: Romulus</i>, carries this film. His character here, much like "Andy", is supportive. He knows this is a do-or-die situation, but makes the best of it by embracing his fellow walkers, engaging them with conversation and positive reinforcement. As for the others, they're background actors whose stories go by like dust in the wind... until the last man standing.
<B>Final thoughts</b>: An effective thriller that gives you a bit of the feels because each character brings their all to the table, but the ending is predictable and underwhelming. Also, this is the only role I feel that mark Hamill was good for.
