The Asphyx

Checking out the new Blu-ray from Kino Lorber.
The idea is fantastic but it is only a little more than a mediocre film and I feel a stronger, less theatrical lead would have would have pulled if up a bit. Robert Stephens is just too “stage”.
Listening to the commentary and Cushing was mentioned. Maybe he is just the obvious go-to, but I can see where he would have really worked well in this.

The Blu-ray itself looks fantastic! It really is a brilliant transfer. Disappointing that they can’t do anything more with the U.S. print insert scenes. I was really hoping that with todays technology they could have smoothed that out, but I guess junk in, junk out.
