not what i was expecting.
thats good in some ways and kinda whatever in some.
i think police brutality is a great topic for a film about violence sinds its an easy way to display the inherent violence that comes from power.
i think la haine does this competently but i never got a sense of that ticking time the film goes to, that bomb that goes. i think the films story is great but its scene never feel like it goes towards something, you know it does but personally i never felt like the characters were in danger so that ticking time bomb aspect feels absent to me.
i thought the characters were grounded in reality but i really wanted to know more about them, the chemistry is there, sure but again as individuals they aren't that complex. maybe that was the point, idk but i wasn't really vibing with it.
i do think all performances are stellar and i will always preffer black and white films over color films. i think its script as in the dialogue is frantic and noisy which sometimes can lead to annoyance but overly its pretty sharp which leads to chemistry between the 3 leads.
