Ridley scott's last two films felt like brutal fights where no escaped.
So its a nice contrast that this is a lot more melancholy and tender with its aproach towards loneliness. Jacob elordi is actually decent here while guy pearce, margaret qualley and josh brolin all give fun performances.
Im suprised at how it ended but i think its appropriate to focus more on the human connection rather then end it with a big action sequence.
Its a lot less tighter and strict in its direction then previous ridley films but it being allowed to be more loose is fantastic. I will say sometimes it can be all over the place but i think sometimes thematically it works and other times it doesn't. Either way the cinematography is great and its fun to see something with a lot of money behind it that looks like this.
