Dorothy is so tuff.
Anyway, the wizard of Oz is expectantly great.
I see it as a film that blurs the line between child like fantasy and nightmare surrealism.
From the costumes, sets and characters like the flying apes and munchkins, the wizard of Oz still stands out today and you can definitly see why the film has such an impact on many but specifically also david lynch.
Dorothy is thrust into an unknown world and that world is magical but also feels off. Everyone is nice but there is a disturbing quality to it.
Characters like glinda are especially a mix of both which is weird to say for someone dressed in pink.
It also definitely has something to do with the sets which sometimes look like actual locations and sometimes you can see what is a wall of the set which looks painted.
These kinda things make the film look as good as it does and it adds to the character of oz.
Judy garland gives a great performance and so does the rest of the cast which is also significantly helped by the great costume design which sometimes adds visual jokes that couldn't be possible if they were standard looking humans.
Like the scarecrow being composed of straw and his body being torn apart by the flying monkeys, only for the tin man and lion trying to put him back together gave me chuckles.
