probably paul w.s andersons most rich and thematic film.
imo there has been allot of critically praised films that show the flaws and self destructive(and destuctive ingeneral) nature of capitalism.
but this one is special because it takes place in the early 1900s.
daniel plainview is a great construct that channels the worst sides of humans but, he still feels human.
allot of deeply realistic evil characters sometimes do go almost overboard in being cartoonishly evil but we get to spend time with daniel, enough so that we know who he is and why he is the way he is.
daniel day lewis and paul dano are incredible, the cinematography is excellent and i really love the outfits worn.
