the self importance of the general public is something we all know exist but i would say, there isn't a lot of films that talk about it.

if anything, most people don't know what the actual fuck they are talking about when talking about art in any form, they just wanna consume because all we can do is be consumers of the lowest common denominator and all they want is to feel good and have everything by strictly for them and make them feel better or it isn't worth it. it hinders not only them intellectually but everyone around them as well because frankly the connection art has to politics can't be mistaken.

people want escapism but the qeust for that makes them blind and the only they succeeds in is drag everyone else with them down under.
yannick's speech in the beginning shows what kind of person he and to extension, a lot of audiences are to the core. he gives a self serving speech about his needs and feelings, how his remarks about "what art is"" displays a level of unseriousness about art and what art is. he doesn't care about anything but himself and generally he never talks about the people around him in his daily life, you have to wonder tho if this unseriousness about art and others carries over onto people because people are a foundation of art but yannick doesn't care about other people as he so clearly displays.
