I, Tonya

It's not fair to cast Margot Robbie and Sebastian Stan as a couple when you know the story goes this way.

A biopic about Tonya Harding by nature sounds like it would be exploitative. However, in I, Tonya, she is not the punchline. She is a victim of abuse from her mother, partner, and half-brother. She is potentially an unreliable narrator. She is possibly a conspirator to Nancy Kerrigan's assault. Taking all of that into account, the film is careful to not take a mocking tone (except with the bodyguard, who they are totally mocking, which provides some of the funniest moments).
