Overview
KIM Young-Chul runs a small liquor store on the outskirts of an American city. Before he dies, he dreams of returning to his hometown in Korea, but the money he has saved over a lifetime is not enough to buy a home in Seoul. Worse, he has lost contact with his son, Steve Kim. One day, Kim Chul-Gi, a church butler, approaches him. An undocumented immigrant, Chul-Gi secretly drives an illegal call taxi and takes on shady jobs for wealthy international students. Behind the scenes, he is planning a fraud involving stolen identities of Korean Americans and foreign students. Meanwhile, Kim Sun-Ho, who came to the United States to obtain a degree and permanent residency, crosses paths with Steve Kim, Young-Chul’s estranged son. Four men become entangled like a Möbius strip, each chasing a different version of the same promise. What does the “American Dream” truly mean for those who live outside it?
