I was planning on going for a walk after this, but I didn't know I'd be sobbing, and now I don't think I should walk around my neighborhood in this condition.
All of descriptions of Past Lives say childhood sweethearts reunite one fateful week. I feel like "fateful" skews negative, so this was a lot softer and more delicate than I was expecting. Past Lives is quiet. There are a lot of silences, pauses in dialogue, but not the awkward kind. The natural kind. Intimate.

How It Feels
Read from this film's synopsis, keywords and credits, and used to work out what it sits beside.
A quietly devastating meditation on what might have been, told through the accidental reunion of two people whose lives diverged across oceans and decades. It moves with the unhurried pace of remembering, lingering in silences and small gestures, to ask whether some connections are destined or merely coincidental.
