I heard spike lee was a pretty great director, i only saw his remake of oldboy wich i didn't judge him by since i saw the average rating of his other films were allot higher and blackkklansman proves, to me that he is in fact a great director.
Its good and nothing like his oldboy remake.

This is a very captivating film. It is funnier than I expected, largely due to John David Washington's natural comedic timing. It is based on a true story, with a lot of embellishment for the sake of an entertaining movie. Towards the end, I wondered if a more dramatic version would have been better, and then you are hit with a bunch of horrifying recent news clips. They nailed the impact.
