Die hard 2 is kinda the same film as the first film at least in structure but the character of John mclane is still engaging to watch.
It also has pretty much the same villains on paper.
The feature uses the first film as it's blueprint but that's not entirely a bad thing. It's not even close to being as good as the first film but it maintains quality by altering motives and little things to make it stand on its own.

Shout out to my 14 year old son who gave it 4.5 stars and said it's like Paul Blart Mall Cop in an airport.
Feels a little gorier than the first in terms of intense deaths. Funny sometimes but maybe unintentionally. I kind of dig it though.
