in my eyes, the couple each represents one thing, the man is bleakness.
for most of the film, he's acting down.
the woman represents hope, hope makes bleakness seem unnoticeable even if its right in front of us just like how the man in the films third act seems to have some moments of happines with the convincing of the woman.
this couple also has great chemistry.
this couple is broke but despite that, they love eachother and continue to try to make a living and enjoy the little things.
its kinda beautifull because its not a typical love story.
i mean yeah it kinda is but how it presents our main characters and their struggles, its a special love story.
it does kinda slow down in its last 40 min, still good part of the film but the pacing was a bit to slow.

How It Feels
Read from this film's synopsis, keywords and credits, and used to work out what it sits beside.
A tender portrait of two young people navigating post-war hardship through small acts of joy and imagination. Kurosawa finds profound humanity and gentle humor in the struggle to make something beautiful from almost nothing.
