How It Feels

Read from this film's synopsis, keywords and credits, and used to work out what it sits beside.

A claustrophobic descent into the hermetic world of a cult surrounding a vanished pop star, where the writer protagonist finds herself entangled in psychological mind games and a sinister agenda. The film traffics in unease and the corrupting nature of fame's most devoted followers.

It's The Menu for music, not food.

As usual, John Malkovich delivers a creepy performance, parallel to his acting skills seen in In the Line of Fire and Being John Malkovich. Ayo Edebiri was underutilized, but that was the point of her role :to be like an outsider who doesn't belong, yet brings it altogether to reflect upon what she experiences.

Great premise and acting, especially as the tension builds and for what we eventually see unfold. I think the ending could've gone in a different direction to really showcase the "reach", but it was still powerful.

Once again, A24 delivers, and now we all scream "Encore!"
