Pineapple Express

horrible in almost every way a comedy can be.
the performances are all really annoying, the cinematography looks decent, not much done with the camera. it uses so many medium and total shots and like most comedies from the 21st century it thinks it can pass by with just its dialogue which would be fine if the script wasn't horrendous.

the main characters all suck, one is a stoner who dates a high schooler and one is james franco. they have a third act breakup which is fucking hillarious because the writing is so ass that they don't even have a compelling reason as to why this happens. dale just says some mean shit and saul walks away.
judd apatow and all of the films he produced might be the worst thing to happen to the comedy genre as these film lack imagination with the camera and composition. comedy directors who aren't edgar wright pre last night in soho don't do anything special with the technique's and things given to them with the medium of film or even with the editing. its so fucking standard. and overall these types of films relies to much on its over the top crass comedy to actual have heart, a story or even any thematic depth. comedies can be so much more and its a shame the 21st century has never come close to making something as beautiful as sherlock jr or grandma's boy.

Completely ridiculous and laugh out loud funny. The ending scene at the diner clinches it for me.

Criminal underuse of Bobby Lee though.
