Pump Up the Volume

Okay, I have two complaints:

1. Casting Christian Slater as a guy with no friends while he was a teen heartthrob is CRAZY. You can't just put glasses on him and act like that does the trick. You can't Reverse She's All That him. Not with that hair.

2. I don't think they said Pump Up the Volume a single time.

Complaints aside, I see a world in which if I had been the right age at the right time I would have been super into this. It just made me want to watch Heathers. I liked this, but I love Heathers.

<i>Pump Up the Volume</i> is an early 90s classic that has aged well (minus the cassette players and bad hairdos). It stars <b>Christian Slater</b> and one of my first crushes, <b>Samantha Mathis</b>. The soundtrack is perfect (<a href="https://open.spotify.com/playlist/04wZz025cZ8UZCuXMZGvv8?si=2D8rVC9eSIWzGD4j7M4LTA&pi=u-tIFDKsKsTG2y" title="Spotify">Spotify</a>), setting a tone for the film in various scenes.

I hope Hollywood stays far away from remaking this film. If they made an attempt, the pirate radio DJ would be replaced with a shy, quiet person who, at night, crowdsources content via social media for their anonymous podcast that unveils a school system’s sinister actions. 🤮
