this very film is proof that nicolas cage is one of the few actors you can't replace.
what actor can play a morally qeustionable corrupt cop who's hyper active as shit but somehow also make him the good guy?
cage makes him feel human, he's probably not a good person but you still want him to succeed because otherwise a person who's worse then him will succeed in his plan.
also how the film is framed and how things like tyler's pov and the scene above multiple rooms in a hotel are shot are great.

All bets are off when shady homicide cop Rick Santoro witnesses a murder during a boxing match. At every turn, Santoro makes increasingly shocking discoveries that even he can't turn a blind eye to.

How It Feels
Read from this film's synopsis, keywords and credits, and used to work out what it sits beside.
A dizzying cat-and-mouse thriller that deliberately obscures what you're witnessing, forcing you to question the detective protagonist's judgment as the conspiracy deepens around him. The tagline says it all: nothing here is quite what it appears.
