The Master

the master is a film about a "new religion" but said religion is more a means of manipulation.

we meet freddie, from what we know he's not completly sane.
joaquin pheonix sells the story of a man with a crazy and manic layer hidden and buried.
as you begin to realize, his mind becomes more and more believable insane the longer the film goes on.

phillip seymour hoffman is great aswell, the whole cast is but i would be lying if i didn't say that while rami malek and amy adams are present, they don't get allot of time to shine.
they are part of the story but only because they need to fill this group.
they have lines but not much of anything else.
the film looks gorgeous with it being filmed almost entirely on 65mm.
overall while i think the master does have its issues, its still great.

Incredibly well acted, and a little too slow paced. It loses me a little by centering so much on Joaquin Phoenix's character and left me wanting to know so much more about the characters portrayed by Amy Adams and Jesse Plemons. Sometimes I just want a slightly different movie, and that's on me.
