honestly my favorite kurosawa film so far.
its simple,its fantastic and i fully believe its underrated.sanada and matsunaga are great leads played really great by takashi shimura and toshiro mifune.
i just really like that its simple,its a breath of fresh air and i don't mean that in a bad way since i really loved akira's films so far but again i just really like that this one is the most simple film i have seen of his so far

Overview
Doctor Sanada treats gangster Matsunaga after he is wounded in a gunfight, and discovers that he is suffering from tuberculosis. Sanada tries to convince Matsunaga to stay for treatment, which would drastically change his lifestyle. They form an uneasy friendship until Matsunaga's old boss Okada returns from prison.
