What a silly good time. This was my first time watching Pee-wee's Big Adventure, even though I have owned it in my Tim Burton box set for probably twelve years. As a huge Beetlejuice fan, I could feel the seeds of Beetlejuice in elements of Pee-wee, especially with Danny Elfman's score. I was SO into this score, and I'm usually not that into scores. It made everything feel cartoony and fun. I think the score actually made the movie for me.
