The Carpenter's Son

while the carpenter's son could've used one more draft of its script as allot of the scenes avoid looking inside its characters, it is still a very interesting film that takes the period piece and modern spiritual horror in a fun direction while still having wonky execution.
nicolas cage gives an amazing performance and so does noah jupe but the meat of it all is its ideas of evil residing close to the most uncertained of places and people, hiding while inflicting damage between personal relationships and society.

noah jupe's character is not evil, evil is drawn to him but his parents don't understand. in a way, its a metaphore for being gay or trans in the last couple years. we've come to the point where everything we do draws attention, even if its just going to the grocery store and allot of the times what comes our way are people who seek to banish us or kill us.
