Welcome to plot contrivance theater!
Oh, boy… where to start?
The script was so silly and directed even more so.
So many scenes felt like rehearsals or auditions rather than something in a finished film.
Poorly directed, laughably acted, and terribly miscast.

I just can't get INTO Maze Runner like other teenage dystopian franchises. It feels very For The Boys maybe.
Casper Kelly strikes again! After his incredible V/H/S/Halloween segment "Fun Size", and don't forget his previous [adult swim] work, he delivers Buddy, an innocent kids' television program, much like Barney, that turns violent very fast. Pulled together by an incredible cast (those kids are fantastic) and story, along with a very colorful setting, great practical effects, and plenty of laughs (in a warped way), Buddy delivers on all levels.
2026 has been very, very kind to theatrical releases (for horror), and I can only hope that it gains the same attention as other releases, such as Obsession and Backrooms.
Final thoughts: Don't change the channel!
Seriously underrated and great film, does everything right. nuf said
A gripping story about jealousy and talent, I've binged this film more times than I can count. WATCH IT!
Tony Curtis looked so out of place in this, but then, who didn’t?
Surprisingly, this wasn’t the only “out there” role for Curtis. I really thought I’d look at his filmography and see this as the outlier. That he had played this part, ad libbed his way through it and said “I won’t make THAT mistake again.”, but no… the next 20 years is speckled with even more outlandish roles… *sigh*.
I was amazed at how insane this whole thing was, and nothing prepared me for that ending! What the hell was that?! LMAO
culture as an outsider is always gonna be difficult to grasp and as films its gonna be even harder because how can you present and talk about something you've never really experienced?
i think as a collection of images, its good enough but the narration half of the film feels like it desperately tries to say something intelectual. sometimes its decent in that but the other time its annoying as fuuuck so i do apreciate the sections of the film without narration and that rely on the images rather then the words.

Two days ago, I gave Natural Born Killers two stars and said it was too weird. Today I'm giving Buddy five stars for being excessively weird. Hey, so it actually only has to make sense to me for me to do it and I don't feel like explaining it to anyone else.
"AM I A DISSERTATION? AM I A STUPID DISSERTATION?"
I went to the movie theater a LOT as a teenager, and I strongly believe streaming services have robbed today's teenagers of quality theater movies targeted for them specifically. Sure, they can go see whatever is playing, but they deserve teen romcoms! This is the best one I've seen in theaters in ages.
At least it wasn’t sharks.
I thought this was something else when I started it. Wasn’t there a film with this premise actually in the theaters that was somewhat successful?!
This one is NOT good. LOL the writing, the acting, and the CGI is so sub par, and don’t get me started on just the basic premise and the apparent magical abilities of the alligators.
I am always very delighted by the movie magic of one actor playing two characters, so Sam Rockwell playing ping pong with Sam Rockwell made me so happy, and then Sam Rockwell put Sam Rockwell in a headlock and I was overjoyed.
I think to say the film is intentionally boring is surface level critique and praise. Rather, I think within that is a tale about the traditional wife and more so about the doomed repetition plaguing the trad wife.
Your world has a limit and boundaries, family becomes isolation and you become as clueless about who you are like everybody else.
I've watched and loved a lot of akerman films over the last year but ultimately and to the point of cliché, this is her best film because its the ultimately flex of her style, from long takes to repetition its weaponized effectively both thematically and story wise. Some might say this doesn't need to be 3 hours and that to be boring is the ultimate pretentiousness and I have to say those people are foolish and fail to meaningfully critique the film(which you obviously can)
