Considering that most of the stop-motion and the live action is 30 years old, it is kind of impressive.
I really enjoyed this. A little melodramatic at times, and nonsensical in others, but overall a fun adventure yarn.
The Moment was not what I expected from a mockumentary about the brat tour, because that makes it sound like it's going to be super fun, like Best in Show but make it brat.
It is more drama than comedy, and most of the comedy is on the more subtle side. I'm sure there are other dramatic mockumentaries, but I can't think of any, so I found The Moment to be pretty original.
Charli xcx gives a great performance as herself but not herself but maybe partially herself, and Alexander Skarsgård had the whole theater laughing out loud.
Well, it’s better than that turd 2012 and doesn’t use a scene of mass deaths for a moment of comedic relief, but that doesn’t mean I think it’s good.
I’ll let the ridiculous science pass. I’ve seen and enjoyed much worse.
Some scenes felt like the rehearsals. Sela Ward never came across as really being there. All her lines were deadpan and lacked any emotion. Even Quaid often looked distracted.
Some stupid choices by almost all the characters.
Walking all the way from wherever the hell you are to New York? Dumb! (Seriously where was he?! I thought he was in Washington DC, but suddenly they are near Philadelphia and later walking into NY from the coast?)
Anyway… leaving the apartment, dumb. Burning books instead of wood, VERY DUMB! Paper burns hot but burns FAST! You’re literally sitting on a wood chair while you throw books into a fire and it never occurs to you?!
A 5 out of 10 film if there ever was one. Just a stupid action film, but even the action is milquetoast.
Five stars for Keanu Reeves with his endless charm. He is kind of a hoot here.
I have mixed feelings about Aziz Ansari, who is solidly a millionaire, writing a movie about how much it sucks being poor, especially with a protagonist that I didn't find especially likeable. I actually liked the rich guy more, maybe because he was Seth Rogen, but either way. That's not how that should play out. I want to hate the rich guy!

How is this nearly 90 minutes long?! Soooo much running around and time spent on some weird ass alien conspiracy nonsense that could have been spent on more Connie! (Or Nancy… maybe Heather…)

Fun film. Awful, but fun in a “oh, how they have fallen,” kind of way.
Darren Lynn Bousman has had some hits (<I>Saw II</i>-<I>Saw IV</i>) and misses (<I>11-11-11</i>) over the years, and <I>Twisted</i> finds itself in-between. This is not to say that <I>Twisted</i> is terrible (it's not) or that Lynn Bousman can't direct (he most definitely can), but it could've offered more, especially with the ending, which felt a bit rushed but wrapped everything up.
For starters, I think the main cast, Lauren LaVera and Djimon Hounsou, are fantastic. LaVera has definitely made her mark in horror, especially with the two (and upcoming) <I>Terrifer</i> films, and whom I would've loved to see in both <I>Scream</i> (2022) and <I>Scream VI</i> instead of Melissa Barrera, and Hounsou is no stranger to both the big and small screens, having starred in great films such as <I>Blood Diamond</i> and <I>Amistad</i>. Hell, we even got Gina Philips (<I>Jeepers Creepers</i>) here!
<I>Twisted</i> isn't original, but it plays out well. LaVera offers a great performance, as does her partner, Mia Healey, who was fantastic in the short-lived series The Wilds. Hounsou's sinister presence was a merit, and it'd be great to see him do more horror in the near future.
<B>Final Thoughts</b>:
Twisted? Yes, indeed. However, there were no twists in the film to be found. Still worth a watch.
First time I’ve watched in a decade or more.
It has some fantastic scenes, but together they don’t necessarily make a good movie. I don’t mean to say it’s BAD, it just isn’t as “awesome” as you might remember.
