It’s OK.
Still putting the Roger Corman film on top, but this one is pretty good. Need to revisit the previous films to figure out where it really ranks.
I kind of think the casting was a bit off. Didn’t really care for any of them as their characters and I never got the impression that the actors did either. Felt a bit phoned in.

Black Phone 2 is scarier than the first, which felt more like a supernatural thriller. This one is definitely more centered on horror, specifically of a Freddy Krueger variety.
There was also a clear effort to make this one funny, so Gwen's profanity laden one liners have been increased a bit too much. They definitely DID make it funnier, but I'm not sure why. I think it takes away from it.
I think the first one is better but that I'd enjoy rewatching this one more.
The soundtrack is so good, and Milla Jovavich is so hot.
This is a classic, and I get that, but I wanted more of the women and less of the guys with paddles, and I wanted Sabrina and Mitch to end up together. Also the credits should have done that thing where it tells you where the characters end up.

Film isn’t so much about anyone being murdered as it is about someone’s weird fantasy about what goes on in a woman’s boarding school. That being said, the director does manage some pretty spicy moments without actually showing us anything.
Oh, it’s stupid. I mean… it’s really stupid, but I have to admit, I still laughed.
I had seen this before and didn't like it at all, and I decided to give it another shot. I still don't like it, and full disclosure, I ended up skipping a chunk in the middle. It's kind of like I fell asleep and then woke up, except I did intentionally.
Keanu is a must watch for George Michael fans. Don't believe me? You gotta have faith, faith, faith.
Christopher Lloyd is a national treasure.
My final selection for 2025's 31 Days of Halloween! Ready or Not is basically perfect, and it is the closest any movie has come to being like Scream for me since Scream in terms of balancing horror and comedy.
I'm going to be honest. I expected to find this super boring, because I'm generally not into sharks, fishermen, boats, cops, beaches, or the 70s, and I don't know who any of these people are except Richard Dreyfuss. I liked it though. It held my attention. I see now that it did for sharks what Final Destination 2 did for log trucks, meaning it traumatized an entire generation and then that fear is passed down like tribal knowledge. I can relate to that.
I think Sally has the most relatable journey here. She goes on a Halloween pseudo-date with her one-sided crush and then ultimately regrets it because she could have gotten candy instead. I feel that.
