Children of the Corn must have been on TV constantly when I was a kid, because it was my second favorite horror movie (after People Under the Stairs) until Scream. I remember having nightmares about the jump scare at the end, but that wasn't enough to deter me. Now that I'm watching it again, maybe for the first time as an adult, it's definitely not as good as my memory of it was. I love a nostalgic favorite though, so I still liked watching it, and I will watch it again.
PS: Isaac is also Cousin Itt in The Addams Family and Addams Family Values, and that is awesome.
I love the visuals, specifically the sets and the locations. I just can't pay full attention to the plot even if I'm not on my phone, not snacking, not petting a cat. I can stare directly at it, and my brain says nah.
Addams Family Values is my favorite 1993 film, and yes, that means I like it more than I like Jurassic Park.
Favorite (Not Necessary Best) Four From Every Year Since Birth
Less than 90 minutes but feels twice that length.
Takes way too long to get to the heart of the film thanks to many, many scenes that fail to really add anything to the story or the characters.
…and the ending… really?!

Kicking off spooky movie season with a classic!
I'm not sure if I'm biased, but it feels like this holds up insanely well for being 34 years old. Other movies from 1991 look and feel considerably more dated. Maybe part of it is the wardrobe not being especially tied to the era, along with no pop culture references.
Favorite (Not Necessarily Best) Four From Every Year Since Birth
<I>The Strangers: Chapter 2</i> is darker and spills more blood than <I>Chapter 1</i>, but is filled with backstory pieces, a character who makes terrible decisions, and a laughable scene that went on for too long. It's an unnecessary piece to the trilogy (which we didn't need) that had better wrap up in Chapter 3.
Some parts make me laugh. Some parts make me cringe. Either way, I love when someone's dedicated to the bit.
There are a lot of things I love about Josie and the Pussycats:
- Three Small Words
- Dujour being a Can't Hardly Wait reunion
- Alan Cumming, Parker Posey, Rosario Dawson, Rachel Leigh Cook
- TRLOn paper, this should be a five star movie for me. I just can't get there. I couldn't get there when it came out, and I can't get there today, and I think it's largely due to Melody. They went a little too far down the ditzy path. There's a balance to be struck, and they missed it, and I can't get past it.
Without a doubt, the best Australian horror film about a murderous zombie kangaroo that has been made, so far.
Actually not horrible and few legitimately tense moments.
