I love 90s movies and horror-comedies, and I've loved Devon Sawa since Little Giants in 1994, so I'm already at three stars as a baseline. Idle Hands is pure camp. It's not quite as funny as it could and should be, but man, Devon REALLY commits to the physical performance of having a possessed hand.

A solid 5 out of 10 for me. Not a bad film, but a stupid one. Mindless action film, which can be a good thing and a lot of fun, and this one almost crosses that line.
Poor script and questionable direction. Hate when the characters feel the need to remind us of the plot or continually tell us what they are doing while doing the things they have been told that they need to do while doing that thing.
Could almost be a direct sequel to Tron rather than Tron:Legacy, and looks great, as did the last film, but in the end it is all flash and no real substance, much like the last film.
I like sci-fi films a little, and I like coming-of-age films a lot, so layering Elle Fanning and a gaggle of teenage boys into your sci-fi movie is a win for me. I guess not enough of a win for me to see it within 13 years if it's released, but to be fair I thought it was a found footage film for some reason, and I didn't know Kyle Chandler was in it. Better late than never though. Super 8 balanced the teen stuff with the sci-fi and action very well, and I always appreciate casting a bunch of kids that are actually kids.
Also I loooooved the kids' movie showing during the end credits scene. Oh my goodness. That's the kind of thing I live for.
Why didn't anyone tell me this was good? I know there's a whole franchise around it; that wasn't enough for me to think it was good.
Also, my apologies to Lili Taylor. I've always thought she was just Nate's dead wife from Six Feet Under, but she is very good at acting possessed. I was super impressed.
And Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson? Hottest demonologist couple ever.
I also really like the poster with the fog and the house and the noose.
I don't think the Purge movies are very good, but I enjoy watching them anyway. I think they are conceptually very interesting. There's a really good book series in there somewhere.

A decent cast with a few recognizable faces makes this a worth while watch.
That said, as beautiful as Ingrid Pitt was at 34 years old, she did NOT look 19! The name may have gotten people in the seats, but they probably should have found someone a little younger.
Price, Lorre, and Rathbone are each amazing in this Roger Corman directed trio of spooky tales! (Loved the humor of the 2nd story. Lorre and Price looked to be having SO much fun!)
If I get divorced and move with my son to a new town and there's a movie store owned and operated by a single man who is also a snappy dresser, I would also get a job there and date him.
This is surprisingly my first time seeing this other than once as a kid when I saw a Kiefer moment and thought it was very scary. I actually still think their vampire faces are pretty scary, especially for 1987. I loved the scene when the boys try to test if Max is the head vampire. So good.
Ah, 80s horror. Where the kills are arbitrary and the plots don’t matter!
This practically made-for-TV level horror is about as mediocre as they come. No new ground is covered here.
The briefest of shots of nudity and only slightly more shots of the antagonist, which is probably for the best. Red, slimy, witch like thing with cartoon googly eyes.👀
I didn't have this on my 2025 Halloween watchlist, but I had the perfect amount of time between meetings to throw on something short while I did some admin work. If Toy Story had played their cards right, I think they could have joined Peanuts with a series of must-watch-annually holiday shorts, because this is a really solid Halloween special.
Hard to go wrong with Vincent Price when it comes to picking films to watch this time of the year.
This one was a great watch and not one that I had seen before. Very heavy, and even a bit ghastly, subject matter for 1963.
Also boasts some great “invisible man” effects.
The only knock I’d give it is the same reliance that so many films rely on, and that is the “power of Christ” will save you.
I don’t have a beef with religion per se, but more that writers either cant think of anything else, or that they insist on putting their own beliefs as the, pardon the pun, ‘saving grace’ of any protagonist.
