I saw My Boyfriend's Back in the theater on my birthday in 1993, and I am almost positive that I never saw it again. This year I added it to my Halloween watchlist, partially because the movie felt like a fever dream, and I had to see if it was even real.
Oh my goodness, I am SO glad I revisited this. It turns out I LOVE it. I definitely was too young to appreciate it when I saw it initially. A double feature of this and Lisa Frankenstein could save lives. How did this not become a massive cult hit? Where are the Heathers fans? The Jawbreaker fans? I have to buy it.
Everyone is so nonchalant about zombies. You really don't see it coming. The dialogue is very funny. If I could retain it and find ways to work it into my life, I would quote it all the time.
Almost a million Letterboxd users have given Coraline 5 stars. I *like* Coraline, but dang, people *LOVE* Coraline.
Coraline is very beautiful and interesting visually. I watched it on my projector but kind of regretted not seeing it when it returned to theaters in 3D. I want to be immersed in the Coraline world. I'm OBSESSED with Keith David's voice as the cat. What a perfect choice. I do think the movie is just a TAD long. I got a little antsy towards the end.

I went into this blind, and I don't know why but my instinct was that it was going to be a werewolf or something kind of monster stalking people in a cabin or something. So glad I was wrong, even though I do like some of those movies also.
It Follows felt really original and different. Even a common trope like a slow walking killer is framed differently. It won't defy physics and appear on the other side of the house in a minute. It'll appear some amount of time later, in the next town when you've let your guard down. I also really liked the lack of a clear time period.
Cool to see Christopher Lee and Boris Karloff together, but it’s unfortunate that the story isn’t worthy of their talents. It’s almost there, but it feels very well worn and I’m not sure the ending really works.
Well, that is not what I expected Silent House to be about.
I love Elizabeth Olsen, and she is great in this. It's really interesting that it's in real time, and I like how it was edited to look like one continuous shot. However, I did not like the foundation of the twist. I didn't want or need that to be the underlying plot. On top of that, the rest of the cast had very straight-to-video delivery of their dialogue, which made it an even tougher sell.
I see that a lot of people don't like the ending. I think if that twist is locked in, then the ending is basically what I want it to be. If the twist is included in "the ending*, then yeah, me neither.
Wet Hot American Summer + Totally Killer + Teen Beach Movie
The Final Girls is a pretty fun horror-comedy. It's good for your health to sprinkle some camp (pun intended) into your October movie line up. I did tear up a little twice, but I didn't actually cry. This will definitely be in the Halloween rotation.
Nosferatu looks like a spooky version of A Christmas Carol. I love the costume and set design. Those are definitely my favorite things here.
As for the actual film, I am conflicted. Sometimes I was captivated, like with Lily Rose-Depp's performance in the fight scene leading up to the sort of weird sex with Thomas. Sometimes I was bored and dozing off, like when Thomas was in Orlok's castle. That seemed to last forever, even though I love a Nicholas Hoult and I was super impressed with Bill Skarsgard. I really can't see myself choosing to watch Nosferatu again in the next seven years minimum, but if someone asked me if they should watch it, I'd say sure.
It’s a shame that Christopher Lee was already a bit synonymous with Dracula and couldn’t play this other vampire. He’d of been brilliant in the role and it would have given him something to do besides look menacing.
Great example at how good Hammer could do horror, before they went all “blood and boobs.”

This is an incredibly overdue watch for me as a big Kirsten Dunst fan, and unsurprisingly she is my favorite part. She's so little, and I love when she's roughing Tom Cruise up and yelling at him and Brad Pitt.
It starts off pretty decent and gets even better with the addition of Claudia. The third act lost me a little though with the introduction of new characters and the exit of others.

Okay, I loved this. It's a Tubi original, so you can tell it had a modest budget, and it doesn't matter at all. It is a such a fun watch. It hits a lot of tropes and cliches, but things don't unfold as you'd expect.
Also, Lowlifes doesn't even have a Wikipedia page?!?! This is so under the radar that it doesn't exist on Wikipedia? That's CRAZY.
Every other review already says it, but "I'd rather eat pussy than people!" really is a killer line. Pun intended.
Visually, it does lose a little something coming off the big screen, but the emotional touchstones are still well in place.
Still one of the best G-films to date and a great film, period.
