I'm all for these destination horror films so, in this case, a (closed) ski mountain resort will do.
Since this was filmed in 2001, proper technology is lacking, such as cellphones and social media, so we're left with a handheld video camera and walkie-talkies. To be honest, it was a bit refreshing, but would've made this film a lot better (and shorter, but, once again, it was filmed in 2001).
In the 2000s, ski and snowboarding were dominated by clothing lines such as JNCOs and words like "dude", which this film used way beyond the allowed limit. The film also includes your typical typecast characters, including the stoners, men with foreign accents, and townsfolk who talk about unfortunate events in their town. It was <I>Friday The 13th</i>-esque at first, but amounted to nothing after all.
There were some creative kills, but nothing to write home about. We're given too many still shots of blood pouring from bodies, but without the bodies. It doesn't do any justice for the film, and the same goes for the ending. When the reveal happens, a sigh of relief overcame me, knowing that the film had a few minutes until the end credits splashed across the screen.

Stay away from this mountain.

Argo feels more accessible than a lot of other political thrillers. A little less political, a little more thriller. Even if you know the ending, you start to question if you actually know it, or if you're wrong.
It could've used more Kyle Chandler. I also really feel like Laura Linney should have been in it. I'm not really sure of the role; there's just a Laura Linney vibe here.
<I>The Task</i> is not original in terms of concept, but, for a 2011 film, pulls a few things off well.
The reality TV show premise works as it takes place in an abandoned prison complex where a number of contestants are trying to win a monetary prize. Immediately after the film began, I felt both <I><A HREF="https://boxd.it/1TZE">House on Haunted Hill</A></i> and <I><A HREF="https://boxd.it/1XjM">See No Evil</A></i> vibes all around, but I was surely mistaken. Cameras are present in most areas for filming, but the lack of full character development (they all had different personalities and traits per their audition tapes, but not used to any advantage in the film) and the plot leaves little to be excited for. However, the ending wasn't expected as it comes with a few surprising twists, but they were not able to wiggle itself out of a one-star rating.

Lock this up and throw away the key.
Wow!! I knew this had a reputation for being really awful, but I had no idea how well deserved that reputation was!
I had a great time watching it, but yeah… it is TERRIBLE!

A few years after this came out, I worked in a CD store, and people would ask me if it was like High Fidelity and Empire Records. It was not.
I haven’t watched <i>Heat</i> since it was in theaters, but that highway shootout scene is something I’ll never forget (mostly due to Chemlab’s “<a href="https://youtu.be/aXEz9gSlQhA?si=3er48hfbitRmpZdK" rel="nofollow">Exile on Mainline</a>” song introduction).
A fantastic cast (De Niro <b>AND</b> Pacino together!) coupled with incredible action, this should be on every must-watch list.
<I>Imaginary</i> had a great concept, if executed properly, and seemed to be influenced by such films as <I>Poltergeist</i> and <I>Little Monsters</i>, but what was thrown at us didn't seem to stick.
It's a film filled with predictable and somewhat pointless pieces used to propel the story forward. Additional ingredients include bratty kids, terrible dialog, and a few jumpscares, leaving you with, in my honest opinion, one of this year's worst films.
Now make a movie about Steven Spielberg chasing the real Frank around after finding out most of this wasn't actually true.

I carry my pro-Rick bias with me into this one. They squished a lot of plot into six episodes. Too much, the pacing was wild. It was just so exciting to have Rick back on The Walking Dead.
Ever since I saw this film in theaters almost 25 years ago, <I>Frequency</i> is still one of my favorite films of all time.
With an incredible cast that includes Dennis Quaid and Jim Caviezel, as well as Elizabeth Mitchell and Andre Braugher, <I>Frequency</i> takes us on an adventure that's bends time, unravels secrets due to changes in events, and offers nonstop excitement from beginning to end.
The film features standout performances from Quaid and Caviezel (before he publicly turned into a political and religious nut, but, seriously, do not think about that before watching this) and an incredible story about family, love, and what-ifs.

Don't miss this fantastic sci-fi, time-alerting epic.
