If you haven’t seen any superhero origin story, watch this one!
It is nice to see a superhero with a family that not only knows who and what he is, but is supportive and is a part of the story.
Shazam is my favorite DCEU movie, and I thought this would be similar. Overall the DC tends to be too dark and brooding for me. This is not dark and brooding, and it also isn't especially fun or charming. The story wasn't very interesting, and most of the Reyes family scenes weren't as funny as they were trying to be. I know Ms. Marvel is polarizing, but Ms. Marvel executed the family-of-the-new-hero aspect so perfectly, and Blue Beetle missed the mark. Xolo Maridueña was good as the lead.
