an interest film but it generally i found myself unbothered with what was going on screen and its more so interesting for the parts that are the usual takashi miike affairs. i don't care for anything going on that much and as someone who can be invested in takashi miike's flashy blood and sexual images....this is fairly decent yet not much more then that even tho that flashy blood and sexual images are still good. i also really liked the cast. the 2nd act is especially dull even if its not entirely bad.
generally the main problem is that the cast, while fantastic ultimately do the heavy lifting, while its screenplay i would say is good in a lot of area's, it also leaves a lot of characterization too the actors and not everyone succeeds while they are good.

interesting and i was vibing with it for a while until it tried to pull some emotional weight which was flappy
the bond between the two main characters feels flimsy because of its third acting ultimately taking that route. im not against exploring the trauma and grief left behind by the death of karin's mother but her father who's spun out of control leaves the film for a majority, he shows in the beginning and some of the third act. he doesn't get a moment with his wife.
i will say, i love the art direction with its small outlines.
Ernie from sesame Street was heavily involved and I liked that. The film itself is pretty gay but aggressively mediocre gay.
pickpocket was more my thing, especially since its far more open with its ideas but l'argent is still really good as it evolves the simplicity of pickpocket from one person to a whole world where greed is like the default mode thats like a domino effect.
The passage of time through the eyes of young and old while the scientifically and fantastically world is searched through.
I kinda like it for that but also there isn't much else to it besides time and death. I love the animation, its rené laloux's style but mixed with character designs more rooted in European comics which I really like.
The characters aren't really anything to write home about and fantastic planet has a lot more to it while also having better atmosphere but I enjoy this one as well.
one note. i actually think its shot decently well but the script and themes are one note and never explored well. religious queer horror is...i wouldn't say common but its something we know, we get homopobia within religion and how the older generations used that to groom teens into submission so to make a film about that while not seeking deeper is kinda whatever.
i do like the film for portraying love will survive no matter what but thats also surrounded by a lot of mediocrity.
Generally im a sucker for zombie films and here its no exception.
Its script isn't good with a character like "citizen" making it almost 75% of the film before dying and conflict just ending but I do like the idea that these people are like ants even without being mutated. Its not a strong metaphore but it is there.
I think most of the characters are forgettable but the central conflict is decent enough.My love for zombie films and the actual film are in conflict, I would say I liked it more enough but there are great ideas here which, if the script was better, it would've been even better.

Yeah suprisingly this looks decent. I mean it doesn't look great but there is a hint of an actual person behind the film. It can look like spider man lotus a few times but I'll take this over jon watts pussy ass.
I think its still missing a few things to reach greatness but i think its the first good live action spider man in like 20 years. I think sometimes a lot of the sidecharacters feel useless like jon berthal's punisher. He is fine but after that punisher special, which, is one of the worst things the mcu has done i'll take anything with his character even if he adds nothing of value like the massive bum that he is.
I like new hulk action even tho i kinda hate this version of hulk. Bruce is actually a decent character but hulk is a character in of itself and i think he is much more then the one note mindless beast that they portray him as and if anything, in various iteration or most of them besides his cinematic efforts has shown him with some intelligence.
Its no suprise who Sadie sink played, I think her character fits into Peter's arc of loss and moving on. I think she could've had a bit more scenes because I kinda hate the fake ass mystery shit. All in all brand new day, while not reaching actual greatness is direction the character needed from the beginning.
wacky and weird and cheap. sometimes thats charming and sometimes its boring.
i will say a lot of the sets and locations make my eyes sore. like yeah obviously this cheap film can't shoot in new york but jesus it looks shit.
while i preffer costa grava's the confession more simply due to the fact i couldn't get my eyes away from what i was seeing, Z still has that in spades and to an extend it continue's or at least begins grava's journey through political lies and conflict that come from it.
i think its strongest aspect is the reality we have to face in that perspective, wether its picking something up or not is entirely to one or a group of individuals and the lies or truth will be unknown until confession. even more so with things like the donald trump assasination and what not which isn't an entire one to one but the reality is still that perspective matter in the events leading, during and after it. these perspectives can be harmless or detrimental.
costa grava's envokes anxiety through a lot of scenes because the lies and political backgrounds stack up. what i've just said is probably only the surface level and im very much impressed by costa grava's aproach to political thrillers.
Kiyoshi kurosawa brings ghost towards his more sentimental and heartfelt side, where grief is allowed to be moved and be placed in the past but also with allowing ourself to process it.
Yuzuke's ghost allows for mizuki to process her grief, not only of his death but from her entire life. But it also does something beautifull in that it connects places to individuals. We are the places we visit and our memories should be hold and remembered by not only the buildings but the people as well.
a slow barrage of internet discconnection.
a film that remains revelant all of these years later, where everyone is a ghost, where everyone openly commits suicide of their true selves and ideals and where isolation through the internet slows time and place.
pulse probably is one of the creepiest horror films ever made and you can definitely see some of its influence on the internet through its horror. read or watch anything related to creepypasta and there is always a hint of pulse there.everyone is wandering in there own world where they are slowly hanging the rope around their neck and where people grow dissilussioned with the situation.
