I was skeptical when The Peanuts Movie came out. Peanuts content in a modern animation style? Pffft! I saw it at the theater anyway and loved it, and I am still loving it almost ten years later.
The Peanuts Movie reuses a lot of iconic Peanuts moments and plots, stringing them together into one longer story. Peanuts in general are a nostalgia serotonin boost, so playing into that by keeping the story relatively the same was perfect for me. Plus, it would all be new content to younger audiences being introduced for the first time, so win-win.
The Red Baron scenes run a little long. Maybe some people are super into the Red Baron, and it was for their benefit, but not mine really.

I definitely thought this was going to be about the brides getting mixed up and feelings forming between the mismatched couples, like a Hallmark movie. Glad it wasn't.
It has some funny moments, while also hitting a lot of social commentary notes. My favorite parts were Phool and her new friends, which balanced being the funniest scenes with feminist messages. Overall a good watch.
The Mighty Ducks is timeless. Does it help that I was 7 when it came out? Yeah, probably, but either way a group of scrappy underdogs banding together for sports is really as close to being a sports fan as I get.

The movie itself is a pretty standard 2000s raunchy teen comedy. It's probably one of the better ones, maybe because Harriet the Spy is in it. There's a Fred Armisen cameo, so I love that part, and realizing the one guy is Tim from the tv show Justified blew my mind.
It's mostly about the song though. Also whoa I forgot how many boobs are in this. It's a shocking amount.
The most iconic film in history.
Wizard of Oz is my favorite movie. All I knew about Wicked four hours ago was that Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenowith starred in it on Broadway, and I've seen the Glee episode with the "Defying Gravity" sing-off, so I have no point of reference for this as an adaptation.
The production is amazing. It reminded me of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory in the way it looks magical while also looking real. Jeff Goldblum was also giving me Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka in his initial scene. Whimsical with perhaps a sinister undertone.
The cast feels like everyone is perfect for their roles, but I'm a little confused by the choice to seemingly exclusively cast actors in their thirties to play students. There is one extra in all the school scenes who has to be 40. Every now and then I'd see that 40 year old man in the background with his textbooks, and it would take me out for a moment.
Ariana is straight up channeling Kristin Chenoweth. Sometimes Kristin's voice seems to just come out of Ariana's body. Kristin is a hoot, and so is Ariana, so I loved that.
Overall Wicked was a pretty solid watch for me. I am looking forward to watching it again on disc at home with subtitles on so I can read the lyrics to the songs as they sing them. It's hard for me to process the lyrics in musicals without subtitles so sometimes I lose some of the plot there.
Steve Zahn generally makes anything worth watching. He's a hoot.
The plot summary and the movie posters all showcase the bank robbery aspect, which is a little weird because it's like the last fifteen minutes of the movie. Overall if you don't expect a laugh-out-loud comedy, it's a fine watch. They were going for the record for most consecutive twists in a movie though. Sometimes seven twists is enough and you don't need the eighth.

Brilliant film, IMO. A parody, a commentary, a reimagining of a classic… Everything rolled up into one AND with an awesome soundtrack!
Eeeeek, I had to cover my eyes a lot more during this one, and I didn't like it! That aside, Saw III is kind of interesting in the way that it's a sequel but it also adds a layer to Saw and Saw II.
In the first Inside Out, the emotions were the stronger half, and the Riley part was fine but secondary. In the sequel, I was more invested in the Riley story than the emotions overall, specifically once the core cast of emotions left on their adventure. There were some solid puns and jokes though. The sar-chasm.
Bummed Mindy Kaling and Bill Hader weren't back.
Usually a 2.5+ hour war drama from the 80's wouldn't be my cup of tea, but somehow this is an exception.
It's a little hard to follow. Things seem to happen out of nowhere or without enough context clues to always be clear. It's interesting that it's semi-autobraphical but Jamie seems to be just super annoying. Most people don't write themselves as super annoying, right? Either way, it holds my attention for it's long runtime, and tiny Christian Bale is pretty darn good.
What a cast! Lucille Ball, George Zucco, and appearances by Boris Karloff and Alan Napier. Bonus, it’s a fantastic film!
It lingers a little too long at the end maybe, but otherwise a must watch for classic film fans.
