A heck of a lot more graphic than I was expecting. Gore and nudity both. Some fairly violent attacks from the ape man too. All around a bit of a surprise.
Not a good film, but fun “drive-in” fare.

I wanted to see this after watching the new Apple+ adaptation, which was so good I stayed up hours past my bedtime to finish in one binge session. However, during this movie, I could hear my bed calling my name, and I was ready to answer the call. I didn't, but I wanted to.

The movie is fine in an early 90s courtroom way. I prefer Harrison Ford to be more of a charming rascal, so this character didn't do anything for me. It was slow moving, and nothing that happened was particularly satisfying. Is just not my style. I loved that Gomez Addams was in it though.

Love Kurt's hair, love the special effects, love the scene with the guy whose head becomes like an upside down spider.

I think the main reason I like this instead of love this is that I can't keep the characters straight. I knew which one was MacReady, but I was never confident who anyone else was at any given point.

They spend a good part of the first 30 minutes of the film repeatedly telling each other how dangerous the deep sea is. OK, we get it!
Cheap sets, CGI not much better than 2000’s video games, and a pointless story follows covered in slime and tentacles.

This is super successful as a horror comedy with a great balance between laugh out loud moments and bloody-but-not-super-gross kills.

The first half hour is to fall in love with Samara Weaving. The second half hour is to wonder why Robbie Amell doesn't do more comedies. Then 25 minutes to wrap it all up.

I love Amanda Seyfried. She is perfect in every role, and Megan Fox is perfect in this role. There are some killer (😉) quotes, a great soundtrack, Adam Brody is here, and I like the overall vibe. I just don't connect with it enough.

I love Lisa Frankenstein, so I wanted to circle back on this one, and I still feel like some part of the dark comedy doesn't work for me as well as I'd like.

Sean Whalen and Bill Cobbs have been in a million things, and my brain always goes to People Under the Stairs first.

One of my favorite movies as a teen, and it holds up really well, especially with the horror elements being anchored in themes of poverty, class inequality, racism, gentrification, etc. I usually don't want my beloved movies to get remakes, but I am intrigued by Jordan Peele's planned remake on this.

If I had seen this when it came out, it would have likely been the logical progression of being a Hocus Pocus kid to a Practical Magic teen.

Seeing it for the first (and now second) time in my 30s, I get it, but it feels sort of "you had to be there" and unfortunately I wasn't. They look super hot though, and I like that the core relationship is sisters and not a romance.
