When it is good, it is outstanding. When it is bad, it is often Una O’Connor.
There are few other low spots, IMO. Some “comedic” bits that don’t need to be there.
It would have been nice to see Griffin’s descent into madness rather than meeting him at the bottom.

Production value is through the roof! Gorgeous location shooting, great stunts, chases, and fights.
Cast is equally incredible! A who’s who of the era.
However… script and plot, just so-so. Everyone involved knew it wasn’t the greatest and took the gig because it meant several weeks in Greek isles, and it shows.

I think I'd like to see Winston Duke lean into these dad-in-glasses roles.

The first hour or so is such a satisfying horror movie. Once it starts explaining itself, I have more questions than answers, and it is a bit frustrating. I went into it knowing I felt that way last time and tried to compartmentalize it, but it wore me down in the last act.

One of if not the best!
Amazing that Lee speaks all of maybe 10 lines on the first 10 minutes, but commands every scene he is in.

I hate to be one of those "the book is better" people, but the book is better. This is still an enjoyable tween movie that I picked today for the Halloween vibes.

A few changes could have made it much stronger though. I wish they would have leaned harder into the 40s aesthetic; the books have really cool pictures, and I wanted to see that. I like the idea of traveling through the time loops; that could have been interesting with more time, but it the movie was already over 2 hours, so it was probably the right choice not to explore it.

Couldn’t help but chuckle as we no sooner see someone get a mask hammered onto their face,  then the screen proudly declares the film a “Jolly Film Production”.
Really impressive production and one of the greatest transformation effects I’ve seen in a film of the era!

There are some HUGE leaps in story, (what the hell happened to Mircalla?!) but it is one of Hammers better films largely due to Cushing, who is phenomenal in this!

I love the way everything in Sleepy Hollow looks. The colors, the costumes, the sets, the vibe. The headless horseman is a classic Halloween tale. I have trouble getting past Christina Ricci and Johnny Depp cast as love interests though when she is a teenager and he is pushing 40. I could have gotten on board with Wednesday Addams + Edward Scissorhands if this was filmed a few years later or if she looked a little older somehow, but she just looks SO young.

Revisiting a film I haven’t watched in years…
Better than I remembered. Not a whole lot new story wise, but there are some very artistic and clever bits of as well as some stand out performances.
