For a movie about the fastest man alive, you have to wait an awfully long time to get to anything even remotely cool.
I really enjoyed about 3 minutes of the film about 2 hours into it. The rest was just annoying.
Prior to rewatching, I remembered this as an overlooked gem of teenage rom-coms. It might have been best left preserved in my memory. It's still a decent watch, and I love Nicholas Hoult, but something just didn't connect with me this time around.
The poster combined with the world "Hustle" makes it look like it's going to be about disco. If I had never seen a trailer, it is very likely I would have expected something very different.
A well-made con artist movie is usually a good time, and that's what we have here. American Hustle straddles that comedy/drama line, and it is effective because of the strength of the cast. I watched it right after The Big Short, an unplanned Christian Bale double feature, and they are both similar in that way. It's a solid, entertaining watch that I would recommend. It's not rewatchable enough for me to buy the blu-ray and watch regularly, but I would solidly recommend it to most people.
I was a bit skeptical going into this because I'm not especially interested in finance and stock bro stuff, but I gave it a shot due to the stacked cast. I am so glad I did, because it was a pretty fun watch, much more engaging than a plot summary would lead you to believe. They explained enough of the financial stuff for me to not feel lost, and they didn't go overboard explaining to the point where it loses momentum. It's probably still a one time watch for me, because it is still about the housing market, and realistically how many times do I need to learn about it? Once.
I do love that the Netflix thumbnail is Margot Robbie in a bathtub, which is like a 3 minute part of the movie. It's the most memorable scene though, obviously.
I expect sports documentaries to either be uplifting or tragic, and this one is baffling. It is very sad for the kids involved, and it is so strange to have the "coach" doing interviews like he's a cartoon villain. He's like wink wink nudging to the camera like we are supposed to think he's cool and interesting, and it is a bizarre experience.

The 70s were not quite done with the cast of this early 80s “epic” while the effects and the visual effects were so 80s that had they been any more so they’d have to come with a free Swatch!
I did not want to enjoy this film, yet I enjoyed it. Sure, the CGI was mediocre and there were villians galore. The reason is because I wasn't a big fan of <I>The Meg</I> (it had it high points, but mostly lows) and I truly can't stand anything Jason Statham is in as he has the same delivery (of dialog) and expression in every film. However, I do get his appeal as people want an action film, and Statham is an action star. Those go hand in hand.
Back to the film, I was pleased with the storyline. Given that there is a "Meg" in captivity and some outside evil-doers with plans of their own, the action picks up in the second half of the film. It was a laughable mess, but was made for pure entertainment (as most films are).
I enjoyed <I>Last Shift</I>, so when I learned that <I>Malum</I> is an "<A HREF="https://www.dreadcentral.com/news/448968/terrifying-new-malum-poster-asks-you-to-feed-the-demon/">expanded reimagining</A>" of that film, I knew I had to watch this (although way too long after its initial release date).
So, yeah, that was good. I enjoyed the story, setting (again), and characters. I can't believe it took me this long to watch it considering my love for <I>Last Shift</I>, which I regret, but check it out if you haven't done so (don't wait around like me).
