Coogler creates a gentle story that, while not really doing anything that special, still is able to create likeable characters allong with creating something for old rocky to do.
He's done everything, he's lost everything so I don't fault him for not getting treatment but Adonis gives him something to live again and thats Adonis himself.Adonis is a pretty good character as well and micheal b. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone have great chemistry.

we see iranian society in many ways and in other ways jafar panahi would later use this concept 20 years later in taxi.
imo panahi's writing isn't as strong here, where we see the many ways society are willing to exploit a young girl, i also thought it was slow and dull in other moments. its not bad, i say its still good but there is a lot that could be done better.(also watch my new 79 min film <a href="https://boxd.it/cQ1mBp">boxd.it/cQ1mBp</a> )
such a simple concept yet engaging but terrifying at the same time.
panahi shows the ways people work in iran, the legal loopholes they need to take, the injured people who are on the brink of dying and the heavily religious people.
it shows just a simple day in iran and its beautifull yet scary at the same time. its not rooted in fiction but its so much more then a simple documentary.(also watch my new 79 min film https://boxd.it/cQ1mBp )
kurosawa was way ahead of his time both in storytelling and in his camera.
genuinely its so good to see this in clear hd, it looks so good.
kurosawa writes his characters complex and their situation even more complex. due to the nature of capitalistic nations both our protagonist and antagonist suffer, they two sides of the same coin.
gondo isn't mallicious but he'll lose everything if he pays up but should he? i mean after all, he's rich. not as rich as others, i mean he is on the brink of losing every penny he has, he directly supports the system that squanders the others...but thats the thing, no one here is a villain because they are all hung on a rope, ready to be sacrificed when needed to. you could say the rich are evil and the poor are innocent but whats really the truth is that nobody inherently is either but we lose our moral compass or have it all over the place because of money.
nobody seems to get a grasp on it and so we attack eachother instead.most rich people are evil but its not ALWAYS that simple(most of the time it is)
like parasite, the film asks you who you exactly should be rooting for and the only answer is: almost everyone in one way or another.
kurosawa thrusts us into reality, what makes us tick, what brings us down eachothers level, how money controls our actions and how since 1963, nothing has changed.(also watch my new 79 min film https://boxd.it/cQ1mBp )
I love glazing kiyoshi.
We sometimes forget our past, willingly sometimes to the point of denial.
But it never can get away, as it haunts us like spirits from the after life.
Kiyoshi doesn't need rising music thats so oversaturated in the genre that is horror, he creates atmosphere by the sounds of creaking floorboards, by the sounds of footsteps and by the quiet wind in the background. Only using music to benefit that atmosphere but its always second fiddle to all the other things.

Simply put, snyder does not work for this story. Its critique and analysis of superheroes false flat when the directors style is as bombastic, showy and edge lord esk as snyder's which, I don't inherently have a problem with his style of directing. It works for certain projects but here it does not.
This is not meant to be cool yet snyder and the way he shoots, edits and choreographs it acts like it is.
It also has hilariously bad needledrops, acting and music.
Simply, can watchmen as a story work in film? Definitely but the publics need for action in a superhero movie becomes increasingly more damaging to the audience and films.
A significantly lesser instance, wonder man. I saw someone criticize that there is no action despite the fact it was never advertised as an action show.While it doesn't work, the cinematography is great, the costumes design is excellent and I thought Billy crudup was good as Dr Manhattan. Rorschach's voice is really annoying to listen to for nearly 4 hours.

We get a look into hayao's mind, world and opinions in this 2 hour doc. Its some wonderful stuff.

Alec Secăreanu and josh o'connor are both great.
i don't think the main character are great but they are still really good.the cinematography can be breath taking but it rather just keeps itself small in scale. its quiet which i think i've seen a lot of quiet films recently so its not entirely special in that regard but i automatically apreciate quiet films because they are always emotional devistating and while this film isn't that, it honestly isn't great in its emotional moments but what keeps it engaging are the main leads.
