The score is great, it grips you so much when other parts of the film don't work.
The chemistry between Daniel kaluyaa and Keke Palmer is great and their bond is at the forefront of the film but outside of that all the other characters introduced are wait less and are really only to serve the goal the siblings have in mind which on the surface is not a problem until the characters are not that good.
The film also feels like it lacks any strong themes and I don't really know what it even tried to say.
Jordan peele is a good director i would say but his biggest issue is his thematic control over his films.
In get out it was pretty good but in us and nope I feel he's lacking.
I still kinda liked the film but it could have been better.

This trilogy is so vapid and annoying.
Basically this whole trilogy thematically is about life and more specifically how one is used for their beauty but not as a person.
This is especially the case with woman but thats just the thing, every character is never allowed to be more then 1 dimensional. I despise ti wests writing, no, just because one of your female characters is written to be a bit crazy doesn't make them interesting.
MaXXXine especially floats around for most of its runtime, going multiple directions while also going nowhere at the same time.
Character after character, twist after twist, its never enough for the film and it becomes all the more egregious that the cast is THIS talented and yet all of them have so little to do.The cinematography is fine but ti west uses great costume design and aesthetic to a specific era to mask how empty his direction feels in allot of scenes, at least, in this one.
Kevin bacon sounds bored as fuck and mia goth feels like she's sleeping walking through it.
Giancarlo esposito, my goat finally gets a role thats not just gus fring and i like that i guess but he gets like 4 min of screen time and so his character doesn't have an impact. His performance was pretty good tho.
good ryan gosling performance, good cinematography and i like all the fade ins and outs but that doesn't stop the movie from feeling a bit lifeless and stoic like its main characters.
characters that die or are in danger aren't written that well.its first 40 min are fun but there is a clear interest in the crime thriller aspect rather then the human one.
Damien chazelle in the first hour directs everything very well. The editing is fast and frantic but allong with the jazz creates something very beautifull in theory but all that is missing is interesting characters.
Margot robbie is great, so is diego calva. Brad pitt is there too i guess but they genuinely lack any depth and while they write margot robbie as some cokehead, her character almost becomes a caricature. The film has a clear love for film because chazelle loves film and some scenes show the film making process and struggles very well but again its all in vein for 3 hours we have to spent with either a cokehead or two boring men.
While the first hour is great in direction and editing, it wastes allot of time on useless scene, time that could be spent developing characters.
It tries to paint the downfall of movie stars but is to afraid to sometimes slow down.Its third hour creates more conflict but by then its already to late as that conflict remains meaningless as there is no one to root or be interested in.
The cinematography is beautifull and unlike something like saltburn, its gross humor is far more intolerable because of the director behind the camera even if he's not perfect either.
Damien chazelle should fully click with me as im not a huge music person but jazz is the closest genre that comes to being my favorite.
I really liked both la la land and whiplash but this seems a bit to self indulgent in his own style which is a blessing and a curse. Its score and some performances are great but it doesn't save it.
It reminds me of elvis and i hated elvis.I liked when tobey maguire showed up.

i don't get the hype for the church scene. great action but for me the camera shakes to much for it actually be great. it just hinders everything it tries to do.the first or so action scene also has weird editing that im not entirely on board with.
its story starts out promising and it sets up characters well but they don't go anywhere, i don't find eggsy interesting or merlin or roxy or whoever else. samuel L jackson gave one of his lamest performances i've seen of him so far tb.
jake gyellenhaal gives a great performance and overall its a great tale about willing to go beyond boundaries and use other people for your benefit to reach your goals.
i would say the first act kinda just walks around while also just doing nothing but after that it kicks into gear.
really masterful and a unique entry in the "kill capitalism" genre.
lee byung hun is excellent, him allong with park's direction creates a film that pokes an eye at how jobs and to a larger extend, money controls us as a society and not only what we lose but how we treat eachother.all of these people, no matter how much time we spent with them are victims in one way or another despite their conflicting morality.
park like his last feature, uses various fade ins and outs, split screens and other technique's to show the emotions of each character. the score is great as well and it helps build stakes in every scene.
its refreshing to see yoo man-soo win but at cost of his morals and humanity. he wins but he is still just another cog in a machine eager to replace anything it can to get bigger and bigger.also watch my films

Not one of kurosawa's best but he's still able to display his craft.
He uses sidecharacters to move his story which would later inspire george lucas on star wars. You can see allot of DNA of star wars in this but they feel different in so many ways and the genres are so different that they are both great in their own ways.
Kurosawa gives these two characters flawed but realistic personalities to ground the big story epic that plays in the midst of them.
And the other characters feel like actual people as well and its kinda refreshing to see such a dominant screen presence be a woman, probably one of my favorite performances in a kurosawa film.
