not what i was expecting.
thats good in some ways and kinda whatever in some.i think police brutality is a great topic for a film about violence sinds its an easy way to display the inherent violence that comes from power.
i think la haine does this competently but i never got a sense of that ticking time the film goes to, that bomb that goes. i think the films story is great but its scene never feel like it goes towards something, you know it does but personally i never felt like the characters were in danger so that ticking time bomb aspect feels absent to me.
i thought the characters were grounded in reality but i really wanted to know more about them, the chemistry is there, sure but again as individuals they aren't that complex. maybe that was the point, idk but i wasn't really vibing with it.i do think all performances are stellar and i will always preffer black and white films over color films. i think its script as in the dialogue is frantic and noisy which sometimes can lead to annoyance but overly its pretty sharp which leads to chemistry between the 3 leads.

Allot of the times, even if i don't like the movie, i can see why people would make it a cult classic but THIS is the exception.
Genuinely so void of anything, it script is lazy and I really think its storyline with Debra is really gross because its dripping with 90s cliché ooze. It doesn't even try to explore it in a meaningful way.
The script is dogshit, I never laughed.
The characters are insufferable and just reinforce allot of 90s stereotypes that suck ass.

Finally watching allot of great films.
The apartment is the strongest in its writing. Its script is probably one of the best i've seen, the dialogue is so charming. Jack lemmon's performance makes his character even more entertaining to watch.
Billy wilder directs the fuck outta this one.

its budget was probably small because the story takes place at a road with a bunch of cars and tanks but its aight.
you can do a worse john wick ripoff then sisu but you can also do allot better.
Easily one of the best films of this year.
The camera is always following the characters, it moves with them, it knows when to get closer to them like its a character of its own.
Its story is great and the performance all around the board are stellar.
The narrative structure is confusing at first but it gets gradually better and you get more information every flashback thats an insight into Gustavo childhood, well, everyone's childhood really.Joachiem trier i've only really discovered like a month ago, I knew his film "the worst person in the world" but i had never seen one of his films until, again a month ago.
I liked Oslo august 31st and I was impressed by his debute reprise even tho I didn't really think it held onto all of its steam in the latter half.
Louder then bombs was mediocre to me. I haven't seen thelma or the worst person in the world but sentimental value feels like the point where im interested in him as a film maker.Again, the camera moves elegantly and the performances given are great. The score is really good as well.
One of micheal caine's best performance and easily better then anything he did with nolan.
I liked munich but really, it doesnt go deep enough with its themes of loyalty to one's country and the conflict between Palestine and isreal itself which the film basically revolves around.
Its just a backdrop for our lead to feel betrayed by his country.Allot of the audience knows the reason why this is happening and some information is given but really the film is more concerned with its crime thriller aesthetic then giving a point of view from the Palestinians.
There isn't much closure the 3rd act gives and really, again, in such a heavy political film its such a shame it sticks to the point of view of one character while everybody else is either a disillusioned isreali or just bodies they have to kill.
