its crazy how good this short animated film is.
could've used a longer runtime but for what it is, its fun.hulk is great, wolverine is great, HELL DEADPOOL is good. i love nolan north and it shows you can give deadpool his trademark humor while being funny(tbh ryan reynolds automatically sounds annoying)

the saddest losses from the silent era of films was actors using crazy expressions.
actors like nicolas cage(who's partially inspired by german expressionism) still use their face to tell a story but those actors are few and far between.the unknown is a really good film, displaying a love triangle.
on the surface, the character of malabar is just the typical manly man, seeking the love of someone who doesn't want it because of her being scared of a mans physical touch.
alonzo on the other hand, a criminal in hiding, doesn't touch her physically but i would say he's mentally touching her.
he plays mind games and when that doesn't end like he wants, he ultimately seeks revenge.
while malabar is ultimately a decent person who doesn't understand nanon at first, they grow a bond together.
alonzo on the other hand begins as the only man nanon can trust, he slowly grows into jealousy because he wants wat he doesn't deserve.
its not a perfect executed film but im grateful this film didn't end up being lost forever.
Joseph kosinski is the most industry plant director working rn who isn't the russo brothers.
Like dude, the visuals in the grid are good but it still looks really weird and dark.
The sets are beautifully crafted but something about the esthetic they chose doesn't sit right with me.
The characters are mediocre aswell.
the wailing is great in concept but it has rocky execution.
i do think it pulls through in the end because the ending is good....it just has allot of sidecharacters that feel pointless but then again, its not about them.
eventually it turns out the decease that runs through this town is caused by the devil. the film has some religious themes, it even has a japanese priest.
its an interesting film that i wished i loved because the idea is brilliant. the makeup effects and cinematography are great.
What it lacks in writing(even when its still strong in that regard) its bombastic in its glorious music and cinematography. It easily has the best setpieces in the trilogy.
Davy jones is still an incredibly smartly written villain and yeah, like the others its amazing.Allot of what i've said with the last two films, applies with this one aswell.
This one is the most exciting tho, it is the third one but also you can FEEL the man power behind this film.

Not as tightly written as the black pearl but my god, the production design and set pieces are like on a whole nother level its insane.
Davy Jones kicks ass so yeah.
Also out of all characters from the first film to give a bigger role, why did you choose pintel and raggeti?
I like them, i think its cool that this film does give a few of its sidecharacters a moment to shine.The film is lushes with its mostly green and brown color pallet aswell.

The film feels like something left behind in the 80s getting back from the dead to make its presence known.
Apparantly the director is not a good person and that fucking sucks.
With that said the film is a masterpiece in body horror and its great, fluid usage of comedic timing right when it hits you with the most gross and terrifying thing ever put to film.The cast is really good and I always give nicolas cage props but this cast did a great job allongside him.
The music is good but it sometimes reach a point of being to loud, it makes sense in the 3rd act but it still can get to a point where you wanna shut it off.The lighting is masterful, its usage of beautifull purple everywhere automatically give the film a great atmosphere.
Show shots do look very cheap but thats more so in the 3rd act because green screen was probably used.

Very much feels from a by gone era where being a blockbuster meant something.
We still get films that use their budget in every frame but the way we as an audience and studio value those types of films are all but high.Like lets be honest, what is a blockbuster? Does that mean anything nowadays besides having a big budget and star power attached to it?
Like i feel zack snyder tries his best and comes close, batman v superman is a bold film that, while i don't love, there is a passion you can see both onscreen with the cinematography and writing.Pirates of the carribean is like seeing an almost dead species, one of last newborns and witnessing it grow older and healthier until it gets to old and loses that health.
The soundesign, cinematography, performances, story are all satisfying and culminate in this epic that involves the British.
Gore verbinski brings a more adult weight of the film but in a way that its not for kids.The cinematography is great with its great lighting and sets.

the costume design and cinematography is pretty good.........but there is nothing else.
its shallow and everything wrong with modern horror flicks.i don't feel like it has allot of things to say thematically aswell as the fact mia goth's performance is super annoying. thats bound to happen when your character is screaming half the time but it would benefitted the film if pearl was a more complex character.
i did not hate mia goth but i also didn't enjoy her in this film.
everyone else is fine, the gore is pretty decent.

While huge grant, some decent cinematography and an interesting plot is there, the overall film is kinda a let down and it doesn't focus nearly enough on what it wants to say because jumpscares and gore.

moment number 1 million when i realized, yes, nicolas cage is the best to ever do it. all hail nicolas cage. all hail the legend.

the film itself is so beautifull, covered in harsh purple, green and red.
the lightning ingeneral is fabulous. allot of smoke is used aswell and its so great.
the performances are excellent all around the board and it feels like everyone is slow but calculated with themselves.
