The one film in this franchise that has both some of the best parts of this franchise and also some of the worst parts.
I do not give a fuck about jade or whoever her boyfriend was.
Tiffany is goated tho, she slays.

one of the only films from my childhood that i cannot hate, this movie is silly, its weird but it knows what it is and decided to have fun with itself.
its funny that vince mccahon is in this.
also yes this IS better then christopher nolan and yorgos lanthimoses filmography.
While the cinematography and score feel gritty and kinda gross in a good way, the film really is just boring and doesn't fully develop its ideas.
very beautifull in its imagery but something just didn't fully click with me but its still a really unique exploration on someone's discovery of their own queerness and sexuality.
the film has this dream like quality which not allot of movies have.
it can sometimes linger on to long with some of its scenes even when its only 89 min.
manhunter is a great crime but also horror film.
the score is amazing, it really feels like....an 80s horror film mixed with like i said, a score of a crime film.
the cinematography is the equivalent of popcorn because it looks delicious and it also probably tastes good 😜
idk, its really great, i don't have allot to say that others haven't already said.
more concerned with the struggles of straight people and how they handle being around someone who's trans.
ray himself is not even a fully developed character.
his mother and the mother's mother are the people we mostly follow, one is a fucking disgusting human being and the other we follow because she emotionally struggles with raising her teen son.
like allot of straight people themselves, they fail to realize what the perspective of the actual trans person is.
so, like, just another trans movie for straight people to make themselves feel better.
The screenplay is pretty good, its not as tightly written as it could've been but considering the scope of the film, its a miracle its not dogshit.
Wolfgang's direction is also great, it feels like all of this, the thousands of men and hundreds of ships were really there. Its like they were really filming on actual ships while on water.
The characters and drama are really good. It kinda sucks that this film didn't get a full on seqeul since while allot of plotpoints are completed at the end of the film, a few aren't.
A few characters feel more like plot devises aswell.
But other then that i really enjoyed this film.
A pretty fun horror flick that i'll probably revisit yearly.
Its one of those early horror films i obsessed over but thats just kinda it, overall my taste in movies as a whole has changed and while i still admire this film for its great cast, good cinematography and fun setpieces.....the writing is not that good.
The tone is all over the place, half of the losers club are underdeveloped.
The actors give them some personality but its not enough.
Also henry bowers is fine but he gets like 5 or 6 scenes.
Its ridiculously premise and its straightforward-Ness is the strength of this film.
It really is just an 80s action flick that really represents what action flicks were at the time but I think what this one does so good is be so serious about itself when whats going on is so silly. Allot of action films from this time are indeed silly BUT there is something much more silly about this, from the fact the female character allongside him for this adventure is just some random woman that got cat called by one of the villains henchmen, to an action staple of a character being a one man army.
To be fair they do make it kinda work by one of the henchmen being terrified by him.Is the film in the end good?....eh?
Like yeah its pretty fun, its cinematography is pretty good but i can't be invested in any character.
The movie is, to me, a comedic venture and like that, yeah it does do a pretty decent job but i'd be lying if i didn't say that sometimes these tropes do get old even when they are fun to watch. Not everything has the same comedic effect.
the production design, sets.....so basically its practical effects are great and the cast is decent but its a rather "going threw the motion" seqeul.
the story is kinda weak, the characters returning from the previous film get killed of pretty early on but the movie takes more then 35 min until the film focuses on this new bunch of characters. some of them only have like 3 scenes lmfao.
still a pretty fun film tho.
last year, i watched this when it came out.
today, i watched it after I came out.its been a rocky 6 months.
i've qeustioned myself and others around me.
i could say so much, in the behavior of my family and the pipeline of transitioning.
i've explored allot even when i get pushback, i've tried dresses and i loved it. im not saying everything i've done is perfect and it did make me think about if it really is true what i've been told. that people on social media who actively support me are just an echo chamber, that there is no pushback because everyone tells me what i wanna hear.but, i can't live like this. i can't sit there and still play a fictional role that doesn't exist anymore.
they don't believe im a girl? so be it. they think im reckless and to fast? so be it.
look, i've talked about my family allot and i still love them but whats actually a healthy pipeline to transitioning, getting a gender therapist or just overall getting there? its not just telling your kid to just wait out for a couple of years. "hey, you are still a boy to us and you are gonna stay one for a few years until the medical facility gets to ya"everything is kinda just falling apart. i once was seeking out validation in a place that i shouldn't have sought that out.
i begin to despise my family for their harmful treatment of the matter.
i can't buy girl clothes, i can't call myself mandy but i do it anyway because thats important to me.
there is a time where, yes, you should give the people around you space but they aren't entitled to say what you can and can't do.i've cried a bunch while watching this documentary because allot of is relatable.
yes, i've felt like a monster. yes, i've thought about killing myself even tho im afraid of that. i've qeustioned my existence over and over and over again because why and how can people that love me the most do this to me?
how are you gonna call what im going through "exploring" when you don't even let me explore anything at all?i haven't felt fully at peace ever since even tho i've discovered who i truly am.
for me, in retrospect it was always obvious even when some things sound contradicting. i got told by my mom that i once ran to her crying because one of my friends was trans or just very masculine when he was still seen as a she while at the same time thinking daily about being a girl in a fantasy of mine. little kids wouldn't even understand what that would mean.
my first ever experience with the horror genre was the childs play films which were conceived by a gay man. one of the shows i was obsessed over a few years back was the owl house, a show with heavy lgtq representation. and then i started obsessively....obsessing over nicolas cage, which, i still am. thats not automatically saying things but with how everything turned out, looking back, its very apparant i am not straight nor was i ever....i just didn't know myself for many years.
i remember allot of the times picking the female characters in video games i played. its those little things i remember that all make sense.what im trying to say is, after living on this wasteland for 16 years, i've figured out but no one seems to want to believe or take action and when i take action myself, i get scolded for it by those who i hold dear.
i shouldn't have to feel mentally healthy only at school and work.
why must i suffer because i wanna be myself?
grok, elon musk robots, pedophiles and a few characters didn't return.
thats what went wrong with tron ares.
while joachim and cinematographer jeff cronenweth do use some cool slow camera movements, the cinematography is very bland.
arguably and easily the worst film in this very mediocre franchise.the acting is fine, the script is bland and boring and while the vfx for the most part looks decent, the action is very artificial.
it really does feel like a movie made so that disney has an excuse to finally get rid of tron. it doesn't feel like a movie passionately made.
i will forget about this film the next day.
