1958's the blob is a campy b horror film.
its premise is so cool yet its kinda lame, very boring aswell.the characters are burgers without meat, the film is shot fine and the acting is kinda mediocre.
not much to say about this one.

not as strong as something like frankenstein and it does follow a similaire formula of a monster not being an actual threat upon further inspection but its still pretty clever.
i really love these old universal monster flicks that are driven by heavy music and slow camera movements. its not scary anymore but it still gives these types of films allot of suspense.
the titular creature looks sick as hell and while in the film it may look silly and goofy, there is still something disturbing about his appearance.
his weird eyeballs, his freakish hands.now what i mean with the frankenstein comparison is that he doesn't really attack the main human cast, i mean he eventually does but only after being chased.
i do think its also very clever that the only human who died besides the people in the opening is the one who wanted to take the creature to the people only for them to believe him, his ultimate selfish goal was his doom.
now, the opening kills would be against allot of what i just said but they did make contact with the group we follow, they are still complicate in disturbing the creature.it makes you really think of what humans would do if we ever found such a creature, the answer being:hunting them down and killing them.
the film is not a visual masterpiece by any means, even if it has its standout shots. i really love the monsterous amounts of mist they added in the last 6 minutes.
it adds allot of flavour to the scene.also not mentioning the fact we never really get to know how this creature came to be.

pickpocket is a very fascinating film.
in a modern world where people say "everyone is good at something"
allot of people don't acknowledge the individuals who are good at things that are deemed bad by society.i phrase that like its not, it is but our main character michel has the impulse to do that. that impulse and need to pickpocket people is the fact he's very good at it.
everytime michel pickpockets someone its shown like this elegant and precise movement.
even when michel tells jeanne that he's gonna help her take care of her baby, he ultimately goes back to his ways which gets him in jail.michel is a strange yet tragic character who sits in the middle of everyone where he's not specifically a bad person, he's just has a bad impulse, he's just to good.
summer interlude is a fascinating film about the concept of death.
throughout the film the characters and the film itself qeustion what death is or how we are suppose to think about it.in the 3rd act, henriks dies which is a pretty hard thing for marie to swallow.
it doesn't entirely feel focused on its ideas on death but thats also because i myself don't entirely get it.
hendriks death leaves marie wandering back to where she began and maybe thats whats bergman is trying to tell, that we lock ourselves up in familiar places after someone's death.
Excellent film, its use of strong shadows combined with its black and white aesthetic creates a film that looks visually beautifull.
Some jaw dropping shots in this one.The movie is brilliant in laying a sympathetic ground for its two characters which are two children who lost their dad.
Add an evil priest who becomes a parasite in their family and you have gold.My only complaint is that the last 10 min add some unnecessary characters.
Heads of state is pretty fun, its not anything new but it sells its concept through cena's and elba's chemistry.
Jack quaid is heavily underutilized but the action is actually pretty engaging.
Ilya Naishuller is a pretty good director when it comes to creating action sequences.
I wished he also had an eye for making great looking visuals within those seqeunces but the film looks fine as it is. Like any other streaming service film.
ngl very dissapointing especially when its twist near the end is so masterfull and well thought out.
but with that said, i didn't connect with any of the characters, like im not really sure why im suppose to root for any of these people.
like yeah sure hooker's friend dies but what about hooker himself?
can we get some of him as a person?
i like anti hero's but there wasn't much remarkability in either of the main duo.

Suprisingly very good.
The best thing about the story is that buster is just there at the wrong time, at the wrong place but then also at the right place at the right time later in the film.
Its great. Also the gags where buster is trying to get away from all the guards is one of the funniest "chase" scenes in film. I also really liked the gag where buster just bounces up and down while a rope hangs around his neck.

vanilla sky has some strong idea's but its a slog to experience does idea's.
a man grappling with his trauma, its weird 3rd act and normal drama 1rst act. its all fun and games yet......it also isn't. there is something great underneath.....all the filler, it feels like it goes on and on, the characters are either one note or not interesting in anyway.
david is not a fun character, i don't want to follow him.tom cruise gives a pretty good performance and the score help evoke this weird dream like state. its cinematography is pretty good even when imo, the very soft light looked very annoying(i don't know why, it looked very angelic which makes a little bit of sense because of its ending)
disturbingly fun all be it confusing.
its very beautifully animated but....like there is no story even when i would argue there is substance to this film, its just very hard to get.
also that dude with long fingernails sounds like murdoc niccals.

Its not inherently a bad film on paper, its got a decent story and characters but how they executed it is a whole nother story.
See, it wants to be this big action film but also be a sort of deadpool-esk comedy flick but also a drama with character arcs but also a science fiction film.
And when you don't do any of them good besides maybe the part of being a sci fi film.First of all, i have never read a hellboy comic but I do love the del Toro films and i don't hate the hellboy film from last year but this version of hellboy seems to prioritize him making one liners over getting serviceable stakes in the story because his arc is haphazardly done.
Why does the blood queen effect his personal stakes here?
It doesn't make sense. His fight earlier with the 3 trolls obviously should have been the main cog in the machine that should've thrown his arc into action but it doesn't.Oh yeah and while I'm on that specific part of the film, that specific fight scene has hellboy composed very badly against not only the terrain he's walking on but also the background itself and the fully cg characters.
I do, like the other hellboy films, like the creature designs(at least most of them) and the makeup for hellboy but other then hellboy(and also the baby yaga who has a cool look), every other creature is done with vfx which isn't a problem on its own but the vfx threwout most of the film, look pretty bad.
There are some decent shots of cgi but most of it is buried under shite.David Harbour tries his best and I think he gives a decent performances, so does Ian mcshane, the writing gives them not allot to work with but they did their best.
The other performances are completely forgettable at best tho.
The blood queen herself is a pretty lame villain. She's isn't threatening and there is no personality.
The type of villain that wants to "destroy the world" is a very hard character to get right imo because you have to able to make them menacingly worthy for being such a threat but also give them a personality or motivation that make them standout which allot of examples don't and this one is no different.The fight choreography is honestly pretty decent besides, again, the troll fight. Allot of the choreography is not held back by bad vfx.
Hellboy 2019 is a failure in most ways but its not entirely worthless.
There was passion, sadly it was muddled under studio meddling.
