i think this film does show the anxiety inducing nature of being in a zombie apocalypse but the characters aside from a few are forgetable.
overall i can see the appeal but its just not something i'd enjoyed.
will smith's character is not that good. the cgi is obnoxiously bad and the other characters are boring asf.
i saw the version where smith actually helps the species, zombies ?
idk but i definitly preffer that ending then him blowing himself up with destroys the whole message of the book its based upon.
Ngl I originally wanted to watch the show and the movie in chronological order but I decided to watch this anyway because you really could just watch the film and have an understanding of these characters.
Phineas and ferb did what marvel couldn't and that is make an interesting multiversal story even if I did want the 2nd dimension phineas and ferb to do more.
Oh well. Also most of the songs in the film are straight up bangers.
i think the film is funny and the characters bounce off eachother pretty good but two out of the 3 main characters take a backseat in the 2nd and 3rd act.
look with a such a premise you know, where 3 or more people form a team or club there is always one that gets the most focus but i kinda dislike the trope. i think we know enough of all three but only 1 of them truly gets a character arc.
the animation is great. sometimes its trying to hard to make the animation look as anime as it can be but its not a huge problem.
but the biggest problem, which is not specifically from this movie but instead the entire american animation industry and thats the fact that it really needed allot more scenes, a longer runtime to hit its full potential.(also watch my new film https://boxd.it/9XU0h7 )
yeah i didn't really for this film.
i thought of giving it 3 stars but nah nothing really sticks out. i don't think anything interesting is going on. i admire the concept of trying to make this into a feature film but it really doesn't work for me.
also they chose the worst possible canidate to make me care about this person. i think james franco has some good performances but idk why but he looks so smug in this film.
While i don't think it rises above the original and allot of people are gonna be put off by the story which isn't amazing but i think overall its a good first film that contains some strong characters.
I really like the family, aaron taylor johnson is not in the 2nd or 3rd act but the reason why and why spike and his mother go outside their village is good.
Again i don't think the narrative is perfect but i also thinks its good in other ways.I love ralph fiennes character, he's got some good dialogue and he's apart of the films strongest emotional part.
And overall his performance his the 2nd best of the film.
Jodie comer is amazing aswell but i really wanna give props to alfie williams who while not perfect, gives a pretty good performance as a kid actor. There was also a minor character, Erik who was pretty funny and bounced off spike pretty well.
The cinematography is beautifull at times, it's not always a frame you wanna hang on your wall but the fact this film was recorded on iPhone is astounding. Also im just a sucker for zombie films lol.

kinda just mediocre.
there are allot of points where i qeustion why i should care about these characters. there is no tension. im not in a hurry to want them to find out what happened.
al pacino is great and his character does have a menacing edge to him but thats it. robin williams is great to. every other character is forgettable, like a cop dies and i barely know him lmfao ????
who is this guy? i don't give a single shit about him.(also watch my newest film https://boxd.it/VbxI )
insanely perfect in the way that the network and its people are characterized but they also aren't one dimensional, they are people.
and just the commentary on how tv ingeneral will go out of its way to exploit someones misfortune for viewership is great.
sidney lumet rocks.(also watch my newest film https://boxd.it/VbxI )
Josh trank's directorial debute chronicle is a pretty fascinating entry in the superhero aswell as found footage genre.
It tells the story of a Andrew, his cousin and his cousins friend who stumble upon a cave that lead them to something that is never fully explained as to what it is but after entering this cave they get superpowers, their abilities are most close to that of superman because they are also very durable.
Before all of that do we get to see how Andrew's life kinda sucks and even after he gets superpowers, the terrible things don't just go away.
His mother is on the brink of dying, his father is abusive and he has no friends.
Keep in mind these are like high schoolers so the story goes in a natural direction where Andrew begins to use his powers in qeustionable ways which ultimately leads to steve(his cousin friends) getting killed by Andrew's rage.
We never truely get to know how Andrew himself dies or if he actually did but its heavily implied.
I don't think the direction is amazing but i do think its a great first film.
some of the editing choices are weird and at the end, you can see andrews camera floating besides him but at multiple times it forgot it was a found footage film and they just shot the film like a normal one for a few seconds at the end which i thought was very strange.
But at the end i thought this was a great film about what realistical would happened if someone of this age would get superpowers.(Also watch my new film shadows scare me on Letterboxd https://boxd.it/VbxI )
Allot can be said about black dog.
The cinematography is great, the performances are great and the atmosphere is amazing.
The film does go on for to long and doesn't know when to end but I highly recommend to watch this.
Black dog, for me is a movie about finding your place in the world and Happiness aswell. The titular black dog is a scrawny and pretty thin dog.
From the moment you see the dog you know that it could die at any moment.Lang, the main character however takes him in and a bond blossoms.
Overall the town looks pretty deserted. It looks old and out of fashion. Empty.
That creates a sort of somber tone from the get go.The movie is pretty tragic and a real gut punch. It's story is not amazing, its actually very simple but it didn't need to be more then that.
