Invention of Lying starts off fine. No one can lie. Easy. Got it. Somewhere along the way, it becomes more like everyone HAS to say every single thing that crosses their mind. Why would a wedding ceremony include "speak now if you think you'd be a better genetic match for these people"??? What does genetics have to do with not being able to lie?! They talk about genetics constantly!!!
There are a lot of people I like in this though. Louis CK is not one that I like, just for the record.

I try not to watch the exploitative trash documentaries that feature "experts" and friend-of-a-friend's, so I was a little hesitant to watch this. It is pretty well done, and I think it treats the victims with care.
How I Watched Inherent Vice:
- Rents from Prime
- Hits play, starts the 48 hour rental window
- Watches first ~10 minutes. Wait, what? Restarts.
- Watches first ~10 minutes. Wait, what? Restarts.
- Watches first ~10 minutes. Wait, what?
- Watches first ~30 minutes. Wait, what? Go to sleep. Restart tomorrow.
- Not today. Restart tomorrow.
- One hour left on my rental, oh no! Restarts!
- 48 hours hits, and it's still letting me watch, hooray!
- Son resets router. I'm kicked out of the session. Prime wants $4 for me to continue. I am mad. I might never watch the second half because I am so annoyed.
- Three days pass.
- Requests DVD from library.
- Eight days pass.
- I'm back! Restarts!
- Finishes!!!!!!!!!!I watched this because I feel like I don't like Joaquin Phoenix, and this was recommended as a counterpoint to that. I don't mind him here, so I guess I don't dislike him after all. Honestly my main takeaway is that I LOVE Josh Brolin. I always liked Josh Brolin, but this has awoken something new. Josh Brolin. Funny and hot. Those bananas? When he eats all the weed? I don't know, man, but I'm into it.
Also, I love Martin Short but I do NOT want to watch him make out with a Pretty Little Liar. I loved him in this, but those few seconds were not pleasant.
I'm a very dedicated Rudolph fan, and somehow I had never watched this. Maybe I'm TOO loyal to Rudolph. Either way, here I am!
This was very good, pretty much exactly what I wanted it to be. I'm not sure if it'll be an annual watch but it will be in the rotation now. I loved when Vixen is sick in bed being taken care of by Santa. Very cute.
Damn! Still such a fun time!
Never go into this looking for solid vampire lore, they pick and choose what is and what isn’t from one scene to the next, but I’ll admit that they make a pretty good recruitment pitch for being a vampire. (Except for all the eating punks at the beach and all.)
A classic. I didn't watch it for the first time until I was an adult, so I don't have the nostalgia for it that I wish I had, but it's a great watch.
Why did they make Scooter dance in that cage?!
So much weirder than I was expecting. I love Joan Cusack as a villain though. And when she's not a villain.
I love seeing old favorites in the theater.
Mothra and King Ghidora have never liked better than they do in this film, in all their forms, but damn the story is all over the map! Ghidora is stealing children to… eat? Maybe…
Rather horrific scenes of kids getting sucked up and “evaporated.” (It’s OK. They’re fine) Japanese kids are made of stern stuff I guess.
I don't think dream houses are THAT complicated to build.
I think Oh What Fun was trying to be mostly a comedy, and the only parts that I thought were funny were the family across the street singing and Jason Schwartzman being a shutterbug. It works better as more of a drama, like a lesser Family Stone.
Plays even more to the kids than the last in parts, but also puts a bunch of kids into some pretty scary situations, and in between spends a ridiculous amount of time having the kids run around an ancient pyramid. I can’t think of any kid that would not be bored out of their mind through the last third of this film until we get to the last monster fight.
The monster fights are among some of the best though. Mothra kicks some butt in this one with a ton of new abilities!
Despite any complaints I have with these films, they are still Mothra! She still fights for what is right and she does it to her own tune!
