The Keanu Reeves part is the clear highlight here, including the end credits song.
Overall this is a perfectly watchable rom-com. Randall Park is always a delight, and he and Ali Wong balance each other well. It's pretty predictable and doesn't do anything new. I would have liked it to spend more time on when Marcus and Sasha were younger to build our investment in them as unrequited childhood sweethearts, and also because they young Marcus and Sasha cast were very adorable.

The leads are so good that I want to give this a higher rating, but honestly I never plan on watching it again unless I want to do some kickboxing intervals during a movie.
There were so many silent slow-motion moments right before dance parties. It happened during every fight, every staredown, every hookup, every tennis serve. Art slow-motion sweats onto the camera, literally droplets fall down onto the lens, and then cue dance party. It must have happened fifteen times (not the sweat part but actually there were a lot of sweat close-ups so maybe). It was so distracting. It totally overpowered the story, which was good, and the performances, which were great.
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is the most underrated animated franchise of the century.
The cast? Bill Hader, Anna Faris, Andy Samberg, Bruce Campbell! Perfect!
The writers? They also wrote the Lego Movie and Into/Across the Spider-verse! Everyone loves those!
And not to get ahead of myself, but the sequel's puns? Endless!

I gave The Marvels five stars after watching it in the theaters, and I am giving it 5 stars again. I have so much fun watching this, and it makes me so happy. It comes out swinging with the teleportation-swap fight, and it ends with two scenes that make me so hyped for upcoming projects. I'm obsessed with Kamala Khan and her entire family. Iman Vellani is perfect.

I can tell you the precise time stamp that this film lost my interest. I was fully vested until then and after that, I simply kept watching because I felt I should, not that I really wanted to.

Did they actually let Georgie become the music supervisor? Is he the one who allowed the distracting piano music at the end?
The cast are all giving good performances, but ultimately this was sad to watch, and it's existence is a little weird. I'm not sure if the Mary Kay Letourneau story needed to be told again, a few years after her death while her victim is still alive and seemingly trying to live a private life. Vili has said no one from the film reached out to him. It's ironic to make a movie about an actress spending time with them to "tell the story truthfully" with an ending that shows it's another low budget Lifetime movie, and then for the actual film with very high caliber talent to not reach out to who it is inspired by. I don't know, this just feels icky for more than just the subject matter.
I just can't imagine making this and having Blake Jenner's "Jake" as the lead when Glen Powell (Chad Radwell!) is right there. Blake Jenner the actor and Jake the characters are both the least interesting here. This is definitely one for the bros, but I could have still loved it if it was less centered on Jake. Bonus points if that screentime went to Finnegan and/or Beverly, because Glen Powell and Zoey Deutch are effortlessly charming.
(Maybe I am biased because I just watched Set It Up the other day, but that's the world I want to live in.)

Typical 50s schlock fare. Low budget and so much stock footage that would make even Ed Wood Jr. blush.
This is a very captivating film. It is funnier than I expected, largely due to John David Washington's natural comedic timing. It is based on a true story, with a lot of embellishment for the sake of an entertaining movie. Towards the end, I wondered if a more dramatic version would have been better, and then you are hit with a bunch of horrifying recent news clips. They nailed the impact.

Fight scenes where predictable and boring, Kong Jr was just annoying, and the damn soundtrack was atrocious!

I was already familiar with the story thanks to an episode of Dark Side of the Ring that the real Kevin participated in (which I think is free on Tubi and I fully recommend). I can't imagine what it is like going into this blind, unprepared for the sheer volume of tragedies that unfold in the second half.
Anyway, the 2+ hours fly by. It features enough wrestling to be impactful without it taking away from the character development, the family moments, and the core story. I think Zac Efron just opened up a whole new lane for himself, and I'm here for it.
