Story was good. Cinematography was amazing.
Clive Owen was good but supporting cast made the film.

I waited 11 years to watch this because I didn't really like Bride or Seed, and I falsely assumed a straight to dvd sixth installment would be worse. I was wrong; it is better. It fits into the existing narrative perfectly, and it strikes a healthy balance between horror, drama, and the occasional zingers from Chucky.

I've seen all 230 episodes of the Catfish TV show. While I think many of those are staged to varying degrees, I do think the documentary is real, at least from the perspectives of all the subjects. I just wish Max was in it too.
This was a great 4/20 film.

Favorite (Not Necessarily Best) Four From Every Year Since Birth
I appreciate the originality. It takes some guts to have 90 minutes of a guy in a box, even if it is Ryan Reynolds. The 90 minutes goes pretty fast without getting boring, which is a feat in itself. It's not especially rewatchable unless a lot of time has passed though.
This was infuriating in the exact way it is meant to be. It's not what you expect from Tim Burton in a really refreshing way, other than that the actual Big Eyes paintings fit his aesthetic. Amy Adams is subtle and heartbreaking, and Christoph Waltz is able to masterfully play a villain while also being someone you'd sort of want to party with even though you hate him.
Just as good the second time around.
Favorite (Not Necessarily Best) Four From Every Year Since Birth
Before you even hit play, it has three big things working against it.
1. The expectations of what a Kevin Smith movie is.
2. It's a nepobaby project.
3. It has a terrible title.If you can ignore all of those things, this movie could find a cult following in the teen horror comedy world, like a lesser version of Idle Hands, Tucker & Dale, or Lisa Frankenstein. Some minor changes would go a long way. The term "Bratzi" is funny, but the actual bratzi's look pretty bad. The whole yoga part could/should be removed. They already play in a band; we don't need to fit two hobbies. The Canadian "ABOOT" is overused, which is definitely intentional but doesn't land.
On the right streaming service around Halloween, I don't know, this might get a second (first) life. (Not with me though; I think I'm a one-and-done here.)
This is wild. It is a huge feat to the actors and everyone involved that as you're watching, even though you know it's nutty, you are thinking more about the characters and their emotions, motivations, and intentions than you are thinking about how a chimp just rescued Cameron Diaz.
Okay honestly that part took me out for a second, but the rest of the time I was all in.
The TV show is so much better. I know it's not a "fair" comparison, because shows have so much more time to develop the characters and the world, but imagine having Connie Britton and giving her like two lines?!
For a more fair comparison, there are also better football movies (Little Giants obviously, Remember the Titans, Varsity Blues).
